"To say I have enjoyed my time at UFIT is a vast understatement. I began the semi-private training regiment in hopes of getting myself in shape over the summer and building knowledge that I could carry forward come the Fall and workout at my school after hours. What I didn't expect was how much I would enjoy the UFIT culture and expertise the staff have. A lot of gyms will claim to have a judgement free environment, but they are empty words. UFIT, embodies it. To be honest, I have always been self-conscious of working out. At UFIT, everyone is working on a program that has been tailored for them and more specifically their body. Instead of feeling judged by individuals you work around, you appreciate and are inspired by the effort they are giving, which intrinsically pushes you to achieve your best. No one is simply there for show. The staff are amazing. It took only six sessions before I knew all the staff members and they knew me by name. Incredibly welcoming and encouraging, matching what each client needs. In addition, the staff build genuine two-way rapport. Regardless of who is supervising the semi-private, I feel confident and am at ease to talk with them. They have gotten to know me and are open and friendly for you to get to know them, building that confidence. 


The expertise that each trainer has is remarkable. They are not simply pulling from a generic bank. Every exercise, every movement has a purpose. Body isn't feeling a movement? No problem, they have an alternative ready to go. I struggled, for example, with hinging, they helped cue my body to do it over a couple of weeks through a collection of progressive movements. At the start of each workout you have a stretching regiment, which honestly for someone who drives 1000 km a week was worth the price. Each time a staff member checks in on you, asks how you are feeling. One day my knee was bugging me. With genuine care Josh examined and suggested an exercise to help work it out. Furthermore, I was debating at home whether to just call it. But the semi-private held me accountable. I showed up. What would have been otherwise a obstacle turned barrier, became a quick stretch and ready to workout. 


This gym has a lot going for it and its members. It has classes, to which I can't speak on, as they operate during different hours. You are never seeking a trainer for help. For myself, a personal trainer is too much for me. Having an individual watching every movement is something I feel would be awkward for me personally. The semi-private, I am getting the benefit of a personal trainer but without someone constantly watching every move. But at the same time just a second away to correct my form, seek advice, or have a quick chat as you gasp for air. I'm still working on the cardio bit. 


The facility is immaculate and incredibly well stocked. Each time slot is capped so that there aren't too many people present. Ensuring one, you are never looking for some place to workout and two the staff are able to be there for you without being overwhelmed. It's a perfect balance. It is better stocked than any gym I have ever encountered. I don't think it is possible to be looking for a certain weight, band, bar, slider, cardio equipment, you name it, that is in use. It is incredibly impressive and spotless. 


At the beginning, I mentioned that I was expecting to workout for two months and then workout at my school. That isn't the case now. I am going to be continuing this throughout the school year and beyond. My body, my mental well-being, and my productivity will be better off for it.

"I was first referred to UFIT about 8 years ago, after sustaining a significant back injury. I had been exercising for years either at home or at a public gym and I was nervous to get moving again without support or direction. I started with personal training sessions and within a few months I felt stronger than I did prior to my injury. I never had to miss a session due to pain as my trainer was able to adapt my workout and meet me where I was each day.
